C-1 House – A Minimalist House in Tokyo, Japan

This house project is out of the ordinary housing even in the architectural design process. Located in Tokyo, Japan, this house is a glass box surrounded by a walkway-gallery that connects different floor in the structure seamlessly. The architects of C-1 house are Gwenael Nicolas from Curiosity collaborated with Tomoyuki Ustumi from Milligram Studio.

The main theme of basic design is movement and discovery of the user. As a result of a built-in walkway surround the house, the interior should be designed in 3 dimensions, that will visible from floor level to ceiling level the top of a table is as visible as the bottom.

The exterior is finished with material of wood and concrete. While the facade and the interior finished in a textured white finish, a specific melamine (collaboration with aica) that will perform strength and cleanings. The interior features the minimalist style as the exterior; you will not know where the kitchen is until the user cooks there. Well, the house design comes from the idea that a private house is not a canvas for life it should define life itself.
