The Grand sofa designed by Monica Förster was launched. When Monica Förster commenced the work to develop a sofa for OFFECCT, to create a piece that conveyed the feeling of something improvised and sketched was the initial idea. The first ideas were proceed to a scale model where a shape that conveyed a sense of freedom was created intensively.
Thereafter OFFECCT’s product development department expropriated and translated it into a model at full scale. Details, proportions and relations between volume and surface were developed.
According to Monica Forster, OFFECCT’s first prototype got the idea of the couch very well. It became a rewarding project that resulted in grand, sofa furniture that was characterized by softness and asymmetry. An inviting sense of freedom was created.
The modern sofa became a large and generous sofa. Grand became a right, a left and a straight version with an accompanying footstool and an optional divan.
Stockholm 2011: this sofa with arms that curl outwards asymmetrically for Swedish brand Offecct was presented by Swedish designer Monica Förster at Stockholm Furniture Fair. One half of the Grand sofa’s seat was much deeper than the other. The sofa design became a left hand, right hand and straight version plus a footstool. Stockholm Furniture Fair was placed 8-12 February 2011.
