Benjamin Hubert x Casamania , Maritime, A solid wood range of chairs that were skinned internally with a formed plywood shell was techniques maritime, inspired by traditional wooden shipbuilding.
A distinctive design language that was in harmony with the material and production was allowed the construction technique where the supports were visible on the outside. A structurally robust chair was allowed by the ribs with minimum use of material. Maritime was consisted of solid and laminate ash. An upholstered option was offered. To enhance the construction details, the chair furniture was also available in translucent dyed colourways.
Milan 2011: this ash chair was presented by UK designer Benjamin Hubert for Italian brand Casamania at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan last week. The chair design, called Maritime, was made of ash plywood with the curves following the grain of the timber.
