Le Corbusier Chaise Longue, a Modern Classic Design of Chair

Le Corbusier was born Charles Edouard Jeanneret-Grin in Switzerland in 1887. In 1912, after working for an architectural firm, in Paris, he taught design in Switzerland. He was a member of the Congres Internationaux d Architecture Moderne where he was considered to be the leading architect of that time. His willingness to totally rethink existing conventions resulted in forms which were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. His chairs are now recognized as landmarks in the history of design.

Designed by architect Le Corbusier in 1928, this modern classic chaise is characterized by its clean lines and exposed structural elements. Comfort is assured by allowing the occupant a choice of positions. This modern classic chairdesign consists of chrome plated steel frame structure with padded leather cushion and headrest. Base in matte black steel. Also available in “pony skin” leather with black leather headrest, see Le Corbusier Chaise Longue Article 505P. The dimension of this modern chair is 22-1/2″ width (57 cm) 63″ length (160 cm) 33″ height (84 cm).
