The Feast – Contemporary Design of Sideboard by Sabina Hill

The Feast sideboard is custom furniture created by Sabina Hill, a Canadian architect. This storage furniture ornamented with original native motif designed by First Nations artist Mark Preston. This is on of Sabina Hill’s project in custom furniture, art and installations which merge the mythology of Canadian West Coast native culture with contemporary design. She works with aboriginal artists to do her projects.

The Baker Sofa – Modern Sofa for Different Problems Solving

Finn Juhl has designed this modern contemporary sofa in 1951 for the company Baker Furniture in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Recently, OneCollection, Danish manufacturer have introduced this beautiful sofa. The sofa is in two parts with an upholstered body on a light construction of wood. This is the text has written by Finn Juhl on the original drawing:
“This sofa tries to solve different problems. Good support for the small of your back in normal position, relaxed position with your feet up in both corners, and even then rest for your elbows, as well as for your head – this effectuated by the dividing up of the back in two parts – good rest!”

Istana Kuta Galeria, The Ring of Events

The client’s original design brief was quite simple: to generate a master plan and design concept for economical, low-budget shop houses occupying one side of the site with an anchor shopping mall on the other. Despite the simple brief, the site context, however, was not that simple. Although strategically located a few blocks away from the famous Kuta Beach in Bali, the site is also removed away from any kind of urban activities. The relatively flat land measuring 68.000 sq m was found to be locking historical or topogtaphical character. Narrow frontage on both side entrances also meant minimal street front activities vital to attract visitors into the proposed commercial area. Read more
